Account Questions

How do I open an account?

To apply for an account please visit our account application page. After you have completed the required forms, you will receive an email, asking you to confirm your email address. If you are having trouble finding the email, please check your ‘spam’ folder.

Upon receipt of your application we will attempt to verify your identity and residential address electronically. However, if we are unable to do so, you will be requested to submit a copy of your passport or other suitable government issued document and a utility bill or bank statement to verify identity and residential address. These documents can be submitted by email, fax or post.

After we have received the required documentation your application will be finalised and you will then receive an email from us once your account has been accepted and is ready for you to fund.

Which platforms can I use to trade with Saxo Capital Markets?

A Saxo Capital Markets account enables you to log on to your account through any of our online trading platforms:

  • The downloadable SaxoTrader
  • The browser-based SaxoWebTrader
  • The mobile-based SaxoMobileTrader

How secure is trading through Saxotrader?

In order to create a highly secure trading environment, SaxoTrader authentication relies on an RSA 1024-bit key generated and stored on the client workstation. Data traffic between the trading platform and the bank is encrypted using an RC4 128-bit session key.

What are the trading rates and conditions at Saxo Capital Markets UK Limited?

What is the minimum account funding required?

To open a Saxo Classic account, there is no minimum funding requirement. For a Saxo Premium account, a minimum openin deposit of £60,000 is required and for a Saxo Platinum Account, the minimum opening deposit required is £300,000.

How are my funds protected at Saxo Capital Markets?

All retail client funds in accordance with the Financial Services Authority requirements are maintained in a separate bank account from our own funds. In the unlikely event of bankruptcy, your funds cannot be used by Saxo Capital Markets to pay any outstanding creditors.

As a UK authorised and regulated firm, in the event that we are unable to meet our financial obligations and are declared in default, you are covered up to a a maximum of £50,000 per person by the Financial Services Compensation Scheme. How do I fund my account?

For clients contracted to Saxo Capital Markets instructions on funding your account by credit/ debit card, bank transfer or international transfer can be found on the Account Funding page.

If you are an existing client contracted to Saxo Bank A/S and you have not yet been migrated to Saxo Capital Markets, please, refer to Saxo Bank A/S funding instructions.

Can I trade SIPP Funds through Saxo Capital Markets?

Whilst we do not act as a provider, administrator or trustee of personal pension schemes, we do offer the facility for SIPP members or their appointed investment advisor to trade funds held within a SIPP on our trading platforms. Please visit our SIPP trading page for more information.
